About The South Bay Chapter
ABWA is a national, non-profit organization founded in
1949. The South Bay chapter was founded in 1993 by member and past
president Denise Guzman. We are a dynamic and motivated group of approximately
60 women serving the South Bay from Long Beach to Santa Monica.
Our mission is to bring together businesswomen of diverse occupations
and to provide opportunities for them to help themselves and others
grow personally and professionally through leadership, education, networking
support and national recognition.
We enjoy community involvement and the camaraderie of other women
in business with whom we can share our issues, concerns, ideas and
successes. Beyond the goal of professional development,
we emphasize
social activities and events with spouses and friends. These activities
are key
to developing relationships that will help enrich our lives
both personally and professionally.
Our chapter holds regular fundraisers
to provide scholarship awards to women of
all ages, and to support
local non-profit organizations.
Past beneficiaries of our
fundraising efforts include Rainbow House,
Wise Senior Center,
Children’s Institute International, South
Bay Children’s Health Center,
Pediatric Therapy Network and Superclown
Children’s Art Gallery.
