The South Bay Business Women’s Association is a national, non-profit organization whose mission is to provide an effective education and mutual support for working women. The South Bay Chapter offers financial help to women through its scholarship program in addition to providing support, encouragement and inspiration through the chapter’s activities.
Amount of Support: Scholarships amounts and the numbers of scholarships awarded by the South Bay Chapter is determined annually.
Special Awards: The Stephen Bufton Memorial Educational Funds (SBMEF) provides grants through SBBWA National headquarters in amounts up to $1500. The SBMEF is funded by contributions from local SBBWA chapters across the
Who May Apply: Preferences is given to women residing in the
Use of Funds: Scholarships checks are issued to the awardees and her educational institutions. The funds may be used to cover the cost of tuition, fees and books.
Application Deadlines: Applications are due by March 16, 2010. Scholarships are awarded in May/June for the upcoming academic year.
Frequency of Application: Applicants may apply each year as long as eligibility criteria are met. Awardees applying for subsequent scholarship support must provide a writhen progress report every six months outlining their accomplishments.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Candidates must submit the following application package.
2. Official Transcripts of all college level course work
3. Three current letters of reference from non-related individuals
4. A brief (2 page minimum_ biographical statement including pertinent information about background, educational objectives, future goals, etc.
5. Personal tax return only if requested by ABWA after submission of application
